Dentist showing a patient a tooth-shade guide - dental SEO for clinics in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi

Quick answer: dental SEO in India is the work of getting your clinic into Google's top three map results (the Map Pack), the organic results below them, the big listing platforms such as Practo and Justdial, and now AI answers in Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT, whenever someone in your area searches for a dentist or a treatment. For an Indian clinic it comes down to six things: a complete Google Business Profile, consistent listings on Practo, Justdial and other directories, a steady flow of genuine reviews, a fast mobile website with a page for each treatment, honest area pages for the localities you really serve, and content that stays inside the Dentists (Code of Ethics) Regulations.

I wrote this guide because Indian clinics keep reaching this site with searches like dental SEO services Mumbai, dental SEO company India and dental SEO services Bangalore, and most guides they find are written for American practices. India is different: patients compare clinics on Practo before they visit your website, search by locality rather than city, often in Hindi, Marathi, Kannada or Tamil, and the advertising rules for dentists are stricter than most agencies admit.

In this guide: why India is different · how Google picks dentists · Business Profile checklist · Practo, Justdial and citations · area pages · website and treatment pages · NDC and DCI rules · AI search · cost · 90-day plan · choosing an agency

Why dental SEO in India is different

1. Patients search by locality, not by city

Nobody in Mumbai searches "dentist Mumbai" and drives across the city. They search dentist in Andheri West, root canal Powai or simply dentist near me, and Google answers with clinics a few kilometres away. In Bengaluru the same happens with Koramangala, Indiranagar, HSR Layout, Whitefield and Jayanagar; in Delhi NCR with Dwarka, Rohini, Lajpat Nagar, Saket, Noida and Gurugram. Your SEO has to win the two or three localities your patients actually come from, not the whole metro.

2. Aggregators own half of page one

For most treatment and "dentist in [area]" searches, Practo, Justdial, Lybrate and similar platforms take several of the organic results under the Map Pack. You cannot outrank all of them with your own site, so a sensible plan does both: rank your website and Business Profile, and make sure your clinic looks complete and well reviewed on the aggregator pages that already rank.

3. Price-led searches

Want a price? Pricing depends on your exact scope, so I quote every project individually. Message me on WhatsApp →

Indian patients search for prices far more often than Western patients: root canal cost in Mumbai, dental implant price Bangalore, braces cost Delhi. A treatment page that explains what affects the price, and gives an honest range where the clinic is comfortable doing so, answers the query that competitors avoid.

4. Many languages, one mobile phone

Most searches happen on mobile data, and many patients are more comfortable reading Hindi or a regional language. A light, fast site with clear click-to-call and WhatsApp buttons converts better than a heavy design, and key pages in the main local language reach patients English-only competitors miss.

How Google picks dentists for the Map Pack

Google says local results are based mainly on three things: relevance (how well your profile matches the search), distance (how far you are from the searcher or the place they typed) and prominence (how well known you are, including reviews, links and articles about you). You cannot move your clinic, so dental SEO works on relevance and prominence: the right categories and services, complete information, more genuine reviews, consistent listings and a website that backs all of it up.

Google Business Profile checklist for Indian dental clinics

Practo, Justdial and local citations

A citation is any online mention of your clinic's name, address and phone number (NAP). Google uses consistent citations as a trust signal, and in India the citations also rank on their own. Make sure the details are identical everywhere:

The most common problem I find is an old phone number or an old address still live on Justdial or an abandoned Practo profile, years after the clinic moved. Google sees two versions of the clinic and trusts both less.

Area pages without creating doorway pages

If patients genuinely come from three or four localities, a page for each can help, but only if each page is useful on its own. Google treats near-identical "dentist in [area]" pages with the area name swapped as doorway pages, and they rarely rank. A good area page includes:

If you cannot write that much that is genuinely different, one strong location page plus a solid Business Profile will do more than ten thin pages.

Website and treatment pages

Dental advertising rules in India: what SEO must not do

Dentists in India are bound by the Revised Dentists (Code of Ethics) Regulations, 2014, made under the Dentists Act, 1948. Chapter VI, clauses 8.1 to 8.3, covers advertising, solicitation of patients, publicity and signboards. On October 14, 2026 the National Dental Commission's Ethics and Dental Registration Board issued an advisory about social media promotion, which specifically flagged:

The advisory mentions show-cause notices and possible suspension or removal from the register. For SEO that means: no testimonial pages or review screenshots on the website, no before-and-after galleries, no "best dentist in Mumbai", "painless guaranteed" or "No. 1 clinic" headlines, and no paid lead schemes that work like canvassing. Patients leaving their own reviews on Google is different from the clinic publishing them, but check anything you plan to publish with your State Dental Council first. This is general information, not legal advice. The good news is that the safest SEO is also the strongest: factual treatment pages, real doctor credentials, accurate listings and a complete Business Profile.

Reviews: more of them, the right way

AEO, GEO and AI search for dentists

Patients now ask Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT questions like "how long does a root canal take" or "which dentist in Koramangala does clear aligners". To be the source those answers draw on:

How much does dental SEO cost in India?

There is no official rate card, and quotes for the same clinic can differ several times over. Bengaluru and Delhi NCR quotes are broadly similar; smaller cities usually cost less.

Clinic situationWhat it should cover
Single clinic, smaller city or quieter localityBusiness Profile management, listings clean-up, review routine, a few treatment pages, monthly report
Single clinic, competitive metro localityAll of the above plus regular treatment content, area pages, link building, call tracking
Multi-branch clinic or chainSeparate profile and page per branch, content programme, AI search work, conversion tracking

Be equally wary of anyone guaranteeing "rank 1 in 30 days".

How long it takes

Fixing the Business Profile and listings can move map visibility within weeks. Building review volume and authority usually takes three to six months of steady work, longer in the most crowded localities.

How to choose a dental SEO company in India

A note on how I work: I am based in Rajasthan and work with clinics remotely over WhatsApp and video calls; there is no local office in Mumbai, Bengaluru or Delhi. My dental work so far has been mostly for clinics in Canada and the USA, where I built and run SEO for clinics such as Eglinton Oak Dental in Mississauga (see the portfolio and the Mississauga dental SEO guide). The same method applies in India, adjusted for the platforms and rules above. Details of the service are on the dental SEO services page.

Frequently asked questions

How much does dental SEO cost in India?

Pricing depends on your exact scope, so I quote every project individually. Message me on WhatsApp (+91 96029 27953) for a quick, free quote.

Is SEO allowed for dentists under the Dentist Code of Ethics in India?

Yes, factual information about your clinic, treatments, qualifications and timings is fine. What the Revised Dentists (Code of Ethics) Regulations, 2014 and the National Dental Commission advisory of October 2026 flag is promotional content such as patient testimonials, before-and-after photos, misleading claims and solicitation. Check specific content with your State Dental Council.

Should my clinic rely on Practo and Justdial or on its own website?

Both. Aggregators already rank on page one for many dental searches, so a complete, well-reviewed profile there helps. Your own website and Google Business Profile are the assets you control and do not pay per lead for, and they are what Google uses for the Map Pack.

How long does dental SEO take to show results in India?

Business Profile and listing fixes can improve map visibility within a few weeks. Steady growth in reviews, rankings and patient calls usually takes three to six months, and longer in the most competitive localities of Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi NCR.

Can one clinic rank in several areas of Mumbai or Bangalore?

Partly. Google ranks map results mostly by distance, so a clinic will rank best near its own address. Genuine area pages and strong prominence can extend reach to neighbouring localities, but not across the whole city.

Does my dental website need Hindi or regional language pages?

Not always, but if many of your patients prefer Hindi, Marathi, Kannada or Tamil, translating your key treatment pages and contact page can reach searches that English-only competitors miss.

Which is the best dental SEO company in Mumbai?

There is no neutral ranking. Ask any company to show a clinic they currently work for, confirm the clinic owns all accounts, check that they follow the Dentist Code of Ethics, and ask for a sample monthly report with calls and Search Console data.

Does dental SEO help my clinic appear in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews?

It helps. AI answers draw on clear, consistent, well-structured information. Answer-first treatment pages, FAQ and Dentist schema, consistent listings and genuine reviews make it more likely that AI tools describe your clinic correctly.
